Michael, thanks for providing this link. I haven’t yet watched the video, but am eager to do so. The title is intriguing, and I feel very sure I’ll benefit a great deal from the lecture.
Thanks for posting this link – this is a great lecture!
This was a fantastic talk! I’ve never heard of Eugene McCarraher before, but I will be keeping my eye out from now on. Thanks!
One of the best presentations I’ve ever seen/heard from any perspective about any topic. HIs students are lucky, as I’m sure they know.
What he doesn’t seem to realize is that: 1) without corporate personhood, you couldn’t file a lawsuit against a corporation; 2) if corporation personhood disappeared, all of the people who manage corporations would have greater constitutional rights to engage in free speech etc. If you don’t like what some corporations do, abolishing corporate personhood is quite the unwitting way to harm your own cause.
I agree with Stuart.
I would add that Dr. McCarraher is dreaming if he thinks that our economy is in any way “unchecked.” Government regulation is precisely what causes the problems and abuses of big businesses.
